First Harvest of Oregon and Northern California is a growing network of Rotary Clubs, volunteers, transporters, grocers, restauranteurs, growers, food banks and pantries, and many others that work together to generate or salvage fresh, nutitious produce and meat for food banks and pantries.
First Harvest acquires and distributes food from two different sources: Regional Projects and Commercial Food Partners. |

With 33% of food bank recipients under 18 years of age, the potential long-term public health costs of childhood hunger are significant. Even mild to moderate under nutrition can have long-term adverse consequences, including decreased immune function resulting in increased hospitalizations, altered brain development manifest as lowered academic achievement and behavioral deficits, and increased incidence of diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and stroke as adults.
Having access to fresh, nutrious food means children can do better in school and in our communities.
